We’re Featured In “On the Waterfront: Episode 2” From Shep Means and Cape Ann TV #GloucesterMA

On the Waterfront: Episode 2: Featuring Tony Gross, Cruiseport, and Captain Joe and Sons with host Shep Means.

Erich Archer Writes-

Hello friends of Cape Ann TV,

The second episode of Cape Ann TV’s new original series On the Waterfront is here!

On the Waterfront is a water-to-table concept with each episode highlighting a different form of sea life. We fish it, process it, cook it, and eat it. All along the way we meet the people of Cape Ann making their living On the Waterfront.

On this episode we feature one of the most celebrated and economically important species on Cape Ann – the lobster!

Join our host Shephard Means as he pulls traps with Captain Tony Gross, offloads at Capt. Joe and Sons, and prepares a delicious lobster bake with Vinwood Catering aboard the Beauport Princess at Cruiseport. All along the way we learn just how important the lobster is to this community as one of the few sustainable fishing industries left on Cape Ann.

We hope to surpass the success of the first episode featuring clams (seen here: http://ow.ly/GXtTG), so if you enjoy episode two please share it with friends!

Darth Maul Lobster Landed At Captain Joe and Sons

Posted on May 19, 2013 by Joey C

We’ve had some crazy mutated lobsters landed at our dock over the years including albino, blue, marbled, calico but none that were separated at birth from Star Wars character- Darth Maul.

Separated At Birth?  You decide.

Toby Burnham- The Seagull Whisperer

So yesterday this Homie was on the roof of Toby Burnham’s lobster boat The Jupiter II with a striper plug with it’s treble hooks stuck in its leg and abdomen.  it was stuck hobbling around and in obvious pain.

2012-11-03 14.43.50

Toby was inside the cabin oblivious to the condition of the seagull and when he popped his head out the seagull flew off the roof of the boat and onto the roof of our dock here at Captain Joe and Sons.

Toby grabbed a piece of herring and lured the injured seagull back down off the roof of the dock and just as the seagull got within striking range he snatched it by the tail and held it by it’s neck.

Then grabbing a pair of metal cutters he snipped the treble hooks to remove them from the feet and abdomen without tearing the belly out of the seagull.

Moments later he was on the deck eating a piece of fish scraps Toby fed him.

A job well done just a week after his 50th birthday.

Nice work Toby!
