1947 Viking Pump Publication Featuring Our Grandfather Captain Joe Ciaramitaro and His Boat The Benjamin C

Joey,

My name is Chad Wunderlich and I work for Viking Pump, a manufacturer of pumps in Northeast Iowa.  I’ve been going over some old publications we sent out to the field over the years and came across the attached article regarding the Benjamin C from our winter 1947 publication.  A Google search landed me on your site and I thought you might be interested in having a copy of the article (attached).

It was interesting to me to read the Atlantic Fisherman article posted on the site which mentions, among other things, the Viking bilge pump as well.

Regards,

Chad Wunderlich

  1. Joe……………that’s amazing…………..I remember Slug Ryan, Libby, Charlie, Joe Curcuru, Red Top, Dana, Sonny Del Torchio telling me stories of your grandfather and all the fish that came across that wharf in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s………….I remember Charlie drinking his black coffee made using the old percolator coffee pot and generously offering me a cup whenever I came to buy fish for Dave Marsh……………..Libby and Charlie had strong backs right up until the end and they were never afraid to help a young buck like myself back in the early 80’s lift a 152-pound fish box – or several dozen of them…………..Always happy and always smiling.

Those guys were my mentors in my early 20’s…………..👍 I learned the fish business from the best!

    Great family!!

    Thanks for sharing.
